The Tooth Crown Process

Teeth are strong, but not invincible. If you suffer a blunt-force trauma to your mouth, there's a good chance one or more of your teeth could chip or break, causing you a great deal of pain and damaging the effectiveness of your bite. Often the best way to fix a chipped, cracked, or broken tooth is by using tooth crowns.

Other uses for tooth crowns include:

·         Covering teeth that have been weakened by decay
·         Covering teeth that don't look good
·         Covering dental implants
·         Anchoring dental bridges
·         Holding together a fragmented tooth

Our tooth crowns are made from porcelain and are placed over the remnants of a severely cracked or broken tooth. Before attaching the crown, Dr. Folck will want to take a close look at the cracked tooth to make sure there are no serious injuries to the inside of your mouth, and to reshape the tooth to prepare it for crown placement. Dr. Folck will then take an impression of the broken tooth and the teeth around it. This will be used to make your crown.

On your second visit, Dr. Folck will take the completed tooth crown and affix it to the broken tooth. This is a process that requires the cosmetic dentist use the utmost care and skill. Fortunately, Dr. Folck is your best option for Norfolk cosmetic dentistry, and he will ensure everything goes well.
