Your Dentist Can Treat your Headaches?

Most people assume that the only time to see their dentist is when they need a cleaning or corrective work done on their teeth. This could not be farther from the truth. There is a particular dental specialty that will help you resolve issues causing severe headaches, neck pain, and shoulder pain.

Many of the above-mentioned problems stem from an improperly aligned jaw. When your jaw goes out of alignment, you need to see a neuromuscular dentist to correct the issue. Neuromuscular dentistry is a specialty that focuses on correcting problems related to your jaw and your bite.

Neuromuscular dentists mainly treat issues related to temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD). TMD occurs when the joint connecting your jaw to your skull goes out of alignment. It can lead to a wide variety of symptoms, including jaw clicking, jaw locking, headaches, neck pain, facial pain, an uneven bite, and problems chewing. The goal of neuromuscular dentistry is to first relieve the symptoms causing your pain and distress, and then to correct your jaw and bite issues so that your symptoms don’t recur.

Dr. Folck has been highly trained in the area of neuromuscular dentistry and can help you with any jaw or bite problems that may arise. His office uses the most up-to-date technology to provide you with the best treatment possible. His office utilizes TENS technology to determine your ideal bite position. Low frequency stimulation is employed to relax and massage your jaw muscles, enabling your jaw to find its proper resting place.

If you suffer from TMD or migraine headaches in the Chesapeake, Virginia area, please contact Dr. Michael Folck today to schedule an initial consultation.

Recapture a Brighter, More Vibrant Smile

As you get older, your teeth get stained and yellowed. This is mainly due to drinking beverages that stain your teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and colas. Smoking will contribute to the staining of your teeth as well.

This unfortunate side effect of the aging process can mar your smile and make you self-conscious around others. Fortunately, with modern cosmetic dentistry procedures, you can recapture that bright, vibrant smile of your youth.

Dr. Folck utilizes both the in-office Zoom! tooth whitening technique and the at-home Nite White system. When used together, these two procedures will yield excellent results, providing you with a vastly improved smile.

The Zoom! procedure uses a hydrogen peroxide gel that gets applied to your teeth. A light is then shone on your teeth to activate the whitening chemicals in the gel. During this process, your gums will be covered to prevent irritation. This can be completed in one visit. You will undergo three separate 15 minute whitening sessions. Your entire visit will last about an hour and a half.
Dr. Folck also recommends augmenting the Zoom! procedure with the Nite White take-home trays. He will provide you with a custom mouth piece designed specifically for the contours of your teeth. You will only need to wear the mouth piece for about a half hour a night, and the benefits are well worth the effort. This procedure will continue the work started in Dr. Folck’s office by further penetrating your teeth’s stains to give you an even brighter shining smile.

If you are considering tooth whitening in the Hampton, Virginia area, please contact Dr. Folck today to schedule an initial consultation.
