Dentures vs. Implants

When you are missing several teeth in a row, dentures are often the best solution. Dentures can be used to replace multiple teeth at once, restoring strength, function, and beauty. Full dentures are most commonly secured with adhesives, while partial dentures can be supported by a dental bridge.

When you are missing one or more teeth, dental implants may be a better solution. Dental implants can be used to hold a porcelain crown or other dental restoration in place, and offer the strongest base for an artificial tooth.

Dentures and Dental Implants

Dentures secured with adhesives or bridges will work, but are far from ideal. These methods of securing dentures can result in adjacent tooth damage, slippage, and the eventual collapse of your jawbone.

Dental implants and mini implants can be used to secure both full and partial dentures. When implants are used, your jawbone is strengthened, adjacent teeth are protected, and the risk of tooth slippage is eliminated.
During your initial consultation with Hampton dentist Dr. Michael Folck, the best solution for your tooth replacement can be determined.

If you live in or around Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, or Portsmouth, Virginia and would like more about the benefits of dental implants, please contact Dr. Michael P. Folck, DDS to schedule an initial consultation today.

Choosing the Right Dentist for Your Veneers

Before you have porcelain veneers placed, you will need to choose a cosmetic dentist. In the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, you have a number of cosmetic dentists to choose from, which can make it seem difficult to select the right dentist for your veneers. However, if you know what to look for, choosing the right dentist in and around Hampton can actually be quite simple.

Selecting a Cosmetic Dentist

When selecting a dentist for your veneers three things matter most:
•    Experience
•    Dedication to patients
•    Proven results

You want a dentist who has both hands-on and classroom training that allows him to offer the most effective procedures. You want a cosmetic dentist who treats you with the individual attention and customized solutions required to perfect your unique smile, and you want a dentist who can back his experience and dedication up with proven results.

Hampton dentist Dr. Michael P. Folck received his cosmetic dentistry training at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. He has devoted the last 25 years to helping men and women in our area perfect their smiles with porcelain veneers and other cosmetic and restorative procedures. Dr. Folck offers a before and after gallery to give you a visual idea of the quality of his work, but knows the best way to see if he is the right dentist for you is through a one-on-one consultation.

If you are considering porcelain veneers in the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, or Portsmouth areas of Virginia, please contact Dr. Michael P. Folck, DDS to schedule a comprehensive consultation today.

Invisalign® and Crowded Teeth

Crowded teeth are one of the most common bite issues addressed through orthodontics. Norfolk orthodontist Dr. Michael Folck can often fix this problem with Invisalign, eliminating the obtrusive and painful consequences of metal braces. The best way to determine if Invisalign is right for your smile is though a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Folck.

How Invisalign Works

Invisalign uses a progressive series of clear plastic aligners to gently push your teeth into their optimal alignment. When teeth are crowded, your Invisalign trays will be customized to move your teeth away from one another and to line them up in their proper position.

You will wear each tray for a period of few weeks before returning to our office for your next set. During these visits, our orthodontist will make sure your teeth are prepared for the next set of aligner trays and check to ensure proper movement. The entire process generally takes less than 18 months and can be incredibly effective for people with mild to moderate tooth crowding.

If you live in or around Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Hampton, or Portsmouth, Virginia and would like to learn if Invisalign is right for you, please contact Dr. Michael P. Folck, DDS to schedule an orthodontic consultation today.
